Copy maps are a classification of maps consisting of copied versions of other highly successful maps. Participating accounts, often referred to as "copiers", change the appearance of a map - colourwise and/or themes are usually changed - in the copying process. The game-play is typically left subtly, if not entirely, unchanged.

Response from map-making community[]
Copying maps is often highly discouraged and frowned upon by map-making communities, to the point where mapmakers insert notices inside their maps to not copy. Mapmakers, especially those whose maps are commonly copied, have found map copying to be an act of plagiarism and theft, noting that the only features that are commonly changed are the themes and colors.
Oftentimes, copy maps can have more upvotes than the original basis maps themselves, most famously with Trollbeeb2's copies of the apstp's original slingshot map in the former Flash-based Bonk.io.
People have observed that having one's map become the center of a copying trend may be one of many reasons why notable mapmakers, such as Yossho, retired as result. Knowing that such a trend is capable of tarnishing others' reputations, mapmakers, such as World of Planes and antidonaldtrump, multiple have created maps (shown below) to protest against the acts of plagiarism and the lack of originality.
